6 Steps To Your New Web Site

Confused about what creating a new web site entails? Please don't be. We've summarised our general approach into 6 steps. Of course, every site is different and requires it's own approach but we hope that this will give you the general idea of what's involved.

For major projects, if possible we like to meet you at a mutually convenient location to discuss your requirements. This will allow us to plan the structure of the site, discuss the design and look and feel and identify any bespoke requirements. We can also discuss the eventual management of the site especially regarding updates. Any content (images and text) you have can be considered for presentation on the site, where anything is missing we can consider the options for creating material including the use of content writers.

During the design phase, we usually create a visual site map, a hierarchical diagram showing the structure of the web site in terms of the pages. We also consider colour schemes, layouts, a logo and other artwork if required and consider how your content will be laid out on each page. We also agree which modules are required, for example, forms, slide shows, blogs, newsgroups, etc. We may create some mock pages to show how the web site will look and behave.

Once the design is agreed, we can start to build the site, incorporate the colour scheme, logo, pages and content, forms and any custom functionality agreed upon. We will use templates where possible to reduce costs and shorten timescales. We will keep you up to date with progress and ensure you are happy with the work.

During the testing phase we ensure the site and any applications conform to the design specification or original brief. This will include the navigation, links, forms and any 3rd party or inhouse applications.

Once the site has been built and tested, we install it on a host ISP. This can either be a shared or dedicated service depending on your budget and requirements. We are then ready to switch your domain name to your new site and your site will then be live!

Once your site is live we suggest having regular reviews with us to highlight any required change and keep the site upto date. We can also consider any further requirements from yourselves as well as propose improvements ourselves.
